ANNOUNCEMENT – Registration Deadline: Please take note that the registration deadline for VERBIS has been extended to December 31, 2019
According to the decision dated 03.09.2019 and numbered 2019/265 of the Personal Data Protection Board, the registration deadline for Data Controllers’ Registry (“VERBIS”) has been extended to December 31, 2019. In this regard, the natural and legal person data controllers with an annual number of employees of more than 50 or annual financial balance of more than TRY 25.000.000 or natural and legal person data controllers located abroad have to fulfill their registration obligations for VERBIS until December 31, 2019.
Within the scope of the Law on The Protection of Personal Data (“KVKK”), the institutions are required to harmonize all kinds of personal data processing activities with the KVKK and comply with the established basic principles on the processing of personal data. Within this framework, a detailed analysis of each personal data processing activity should be carried out by the relevant institution and each relevant institution should take legislative, administrative and technical measures that are necessary to protect the personal data.
After the analysis of each data processing activity, the institutions responsible for registration to VERBIS, should prepare personal data inventory and related compliance policies, express consent and disclosure forms, and these documents should be included in the business processes. Following aforementioned data analysis, the registration to VERBIS can be performed easily.
